The Commander Nigeria Forest Security Service (NFSS) Kano State Command Abdullahi Al’ameen disclosed this in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Thursday in Kano.

He said the service is trying its best to leave up to its mandate, including prevention, detection of crimes and illegal activities perpetrated in the forests.

According to him, “out of the 319 complainants, 300 had been treated while 19 were pending in court.

“Most of the cases were on animal theft, banditry, kidnapping, motorcycle theft, debt, phone snatching, rape, vandalism among others.

"We will partner with relevant stakeholders on community policing",he said.

Al’ameen further explained that this year NFSS will re-train it's personnel on security information and weapon - handling.

He added that the training will help personnel to know what to do in the forest, gather relevant information on armed robbers, thieves among others.

The Commander also appealed to the government to pass a bill to make them one of the government security outfits since they are still a voluntary organisation.

He solicited the cooperation of the public to make the state a zero-free society.
