Kano DMCSA Records Major Reforms, Seeks Stronger Civil Service Partnership

The Director General of the Kano State Drugs and Medical Consumables Supply Agency (DMCSA), Pharm. Gali Sule, alongside members of the agency’s management team, paid a strategic visit to the Acting Head of the Civil Service Hajiya Bilkisu Shehu Maimota, in a move aimed at strengthening institutional collaboration and improving the efficiency of healthcare supply systems in the state.
The visit underscored the agency’s commitment to enhancing transparency, accountability, and service delivery in the procurement and distribution of drugs and medical consumables across Kano State.
Speaking, the Director General said they were at the Office of the Head of Service to congratulate her on her new appointment and also to brief her on the activities conducted at the DMCSA under the present administration of Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf.
"It is with great pleasure that I extend my warmest congratulations to you. Your appointment is a testament to your dedication, experience, and commitment to public service. I am confident that under your leadership, the civil service will continue to grow in efficiency, integrity, and excellence," Pharm. Sule stated.
He then listed some of the major achievements recorded at his agency, including increase in drug availability at state-owned health facilities, and paying the inherited debt of N1.2 billion.
"At the Kano State Drugs and Medical Consumables Supply Agency, we remain committed to supporting the broader vision of strengthening public service delivery, particularly in the health sector. I am pleased to highlight some of the significant milestones we have achieved.
"Notably, the Agency has successfully paid off an inherited debt of over N1.2 billion, a major step towards financial stability and institutional credibility. We have also recorded a substantial increase in the availability of drugs and consumables across health facilities, ensuring that citizens have improved access to quality healthcare services."
Other notable successes recorded according to the DG are the construction of new Pharma-Grade Warehouse, increment of fund value of the agency, and the remodeling of Drug Manufacturing Unit into a modern Quality Control Laboratory.
"In this line, the value of our operational funds has grown, from N102 negative balance to N532 million, reflecting stronger financial management and increased confidence in the Agency. Our commitment to transparency and performance monitoring is demonstrated through the consistent conduct of monthly and quarterly review meetings, which have enhanced accountability and informed decision-making.
Pharm. Sule finally assured the Acting Head of Civil Service of DMCSA’s continued collaboration in advancing the health and well-being of the state residents, "These achievements would not have been possible without the support of the government, our partners, and the dedication of our hardworking staff," he observed.
Responding, the Acting Head of Service Hajiya Bilkisu Shehu Maimota commended the DG and his management team for their tremendous achievements.
She assured the DMCSA leadership of her full support and cooperation.
