The renovation and upgrade of Kafin Maiyaki Primary Healthcare Center in Kiru to a Cottage Hospital is expected to gain momentum following a 48-hour ultimatum issued by the Honorable Commissioner, Ministry for Public Procurement, Project Monitoring and Evaluation, Kano State Comrade Nura Ma’aji Sumaila. The ultimatum was given during his statewide inspection tour to assess the progress of ongoing projects.

According to a press statement issued by Sagiru Ado Abubakar the Public Relations Officer of the ministry, two contractors are responsible for the renovation and upgrade works at the healthcare center. Expressing his dissatisfaction, Comrade Ma’aji Sumaila criticized the slow pace of execution and warned that the administration of His Excellency, Engr. Abba Kabir Yusuf, would not tolerate substandard delivery or delays.

“This is our third visit to this hospital, and we are disappointed to see that no significant progress has been made by the two contractors,” he stated. “From now until this coming Sunday, all work must be completed. We will return Sunday afternoon to assess the progress. If there’s no improvement, serious action will be taken.”

In a separate development, the Honorable Commissioner issued a one-week ultimatum to the contractor handling the Kiru five-kilometer road project. The contractor had cited diesel supply shortages as a major obstacle to the project's progress.

Responding to the complaint, Comrade Sumaila stated that the monitoring team would revisit the site in the coming week during their tour of neighboring local government areas. He warned that if no progress is observed, the company will be summoned by the state government.

Other projects inspected during the tour included the 74-kilometer Madobi–Yako road, the Reformatory Institute in Kiru, and Bebeji General Hospital.

The Reformatory Institute is at the final stage and awaiting official handover. Meanwhile, the contractor responsible for Bebeji General Hospital was instructed to address issues raised by experts or face serious consequences. H&M Construction Company Ltd. received commendation and a directive to accelerate work on the Madobi–Yako–Kwanar Dangora 74-kilometer road.
